CBRNE Ltd associate company DroneOps Ltd helps ImiTec Ltd achieve 5th place in the Drones for Good competition in Dubai

CBRNE Ltd’s associated company DroneOps Ltd based in Newcastle provided ImiTec Ltd with a flying platform for its Advanced Airborne Radiation Monitoring System and was very pleased to come 5th in the finals of the 2016 United Arab Emirates’ Drones for Good competition which was held in the Dubai from 4th to 6th February 2016.

The team was the highest scoring in the semi-finals for presentation and demonstration. The team was honoured to be the only international entrant to be presented to the Emir of Dubai and to brief His Highness on the Advanced Airborne Radiation Monitoring System. The whole team led, by ImiTec’s Technical Director Dr Tom Scott, performed exceptionally well and could not have done more as shown by earning for the highest scores for presentation and demonstration in the semi-finals.

DroneOps Ltd has had an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate its ability to integrate third party sensors such as ImiTec’s unique Advanced Airborne Radiation Monitoring System technology. It was a particular honour to be invited to brief His Highness the Emir of Dubai on our technology. The event has been a great experience for the team and we are grateful for having had the opportunity to take part.”
ImiTec’s Airborne Autonomous Radiation Monitoring system, incorporating its core capability the patented Remote Isotopic Analysis System, provides low-altitude aerial radiation detection and can undertake a range of tasks from the routine monitoring of nuclear sites and naturally occurring radiation deposits to responding to nuclear accidents or other incidents involving radioactive materials. It can also be used for Defence and Homeland Security tasks.

DroneOps Ltd specialises in the commercial, industrial, security and defence applications of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems and robotics and provides research and development through innovation and system integration together with construction of the drones, training in their use and technical support.

Drones for Good is an annual international competition and award by the government of the United Arab Emirates to encourage useful and positive applications for drone technology.
